The annual Athletic Training Student Seminar (ATSS), presented by the NATA Student Leadership Committee, provides athletic training students with education, knowledge and resources to advance their career within athletic training.

ATSS OTHO DAVIS KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: “JUST GETTING STARTED, NEVER GIVING UP!” BY TREVOR BATES, DHSC, AT

This year, the ATSS Otho Davis Keynote Presentation is “Just Getting Started, Never Giving Up!” by Trevor Bates, DHSc, AT, chair of the NATA DEIA Council and executive vice president of innovation and strategy for TRUE Empowering, an organizational culture and equity-focused consulting firm. Bates will discuss how to view success and failure when it comes to embarking on an athletic training career. Those attending the keynote presentation should be prepared to reframe their thoughts toward failure and how each setback might lead to the greatest achievement as one navigates through the athletic training profession.

ATSS Presentation: “Coping With Burnout as an AT Student”

As an athletic training student, are you feeling burnout from the demands of school, clinical and other life requirements? Hear from Nick Cromidas, MEd, LAT, ATC, assistant clinical professor at the University of Montana, as he discusses his transition from student to athletic trainer. In this engaging and impactful conversation, attendees will hear about how Cromidas managed his burnout experienced as a student in order to quickly jump into the profession. He will also share techniques used to help limit burnout throughout his early years in athletic training.

ATSS Presentation: “Navigating and Persevering Through the Early Years of Your Career”

2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. June 26

Hear from a variety of athletic training professionals across job settings from different backgrounds as they discuss their tips and tricks for navigating and persevering through the early years of their careers while never losing sight of their identity and values. During this panel discussion, hard-hitting questions will be asked with answers that provide a range of guidance and advice to all athletic training students. Don’t miss this event as you get ready for your first few years in the profession. 

15th annual NATA Quiz Bowl

4 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 26

Each year, teams of students representing their districts test their athletic training knowledge during the NATA Quiz Bowl, a Jeopardy-style competition.

ATSS NBATA Ultrasound Workshop

9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. June 27

Presented by the National Basketball Athletic Trainers’ Association, students will get a firsthand look at the role ultrasound can play in sports medicine.

ATSS Leadership Career Roundtable

11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 27
