What is the ATSS?
The annual Athletic Training Student Seminar (ATSS), presented by the NATA Student Leadership Committee (SLC), provides athletic training students with the education, knowledge and resources to advance their career within athletic training. The 2023 ATSS theme is “Beyond Your Credential: What Comes Next?” ATSS will prepare athletic training students as they transition from student to clinician. Programming will educate students on becoming a well-rounded professional with an understanding of each athletic training domain, while participating in professional engagement.
Friday, June 23: ATSS Otho Davis Keynote

Topic: A Focus on the 5th Domain of Athletic Training: Health Care Administration and Professional Responsibility

Friday, June 23: National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association (NBATA) Ron Culp Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Workshop

Saturday, June 24: ATSS Student Career Roundtables
Time: 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

ATSS Breakout 1: Ethics within Athletic Training
Theme: Understand the meaning behind NATA’s shared professional values and how to use ethical decision-making strategies.
Speaker: Gretchen Schlabach, PhD, ATC; Dr. Schlabach is the founding chair of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Professional Responsibility in Athletic Training (PRAT) Committee and between 2006 and 2013 she served as the NATA Chair for the Committee on Professional Ethics.
ATSS Breakout 2: Moving Forward in Our Profession
Theme: Learn the formula for success for any medical field.
Speaker: Tom Abdenour, DHSc, ATC, NASM-CES, Former Head Athletic Trainer at the professional and collegiate levels with Golden State Warriors and San Diego State University
ATSS Breakout 3: Interprofessional Relationships
Theme: An interactive session discussing the importance of forming interprofessional relationships and building your network.

Theme: Learn how to write your resume, interview tips, and wage negotiations.
