Pedagogy Designed to Build a Foundation for Interprofessional Collaboration
Teamwork and collaboration skills are essential for health professionals as the delivery of health care evolves into more interprofessional practice models. Research suggests that introducing Interprofessional Education early in the curriculum improves students’ attitudes toward and appreciation for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice. This presentation describes innovative and intentional strategies for delivering collaborative team-based learning experiences in a large, introductory interprofessional course. The use of technology and dynamic evidence-based pedagogy creates an opportunity to actively engage students in real-time to learn teamwork and collaboration skills as they embark on their journey to be a collaborative patient-centered health professional.
